Unsung Heroes
April 18th is National Lineman Appreciation Day, honoring the brave workers who install and maintain electrical power lines. These professionals work at dangerous heights, in all weather conditions, to keep our lights on and communities powered.
Dangerous Work
Linemen face electrocution, falls, and severe weather daily. They climb poles and towers, often in storms, to restore power. The job ranks among the most dangerous in America, with fatality rates exceeding those of police and firefighters.
First Responders of Power
After hurricanes, ice storms, and disasters, linemen are among the first responders. They work grueling hours in hazardous conditions to restore electricity—often leaving their own families in the dark to serve their communities.
Training and Skill
Linemen undergo extensive apprenticeship training, learning electrical theory, climbing techniques, and safety protocols. Their expertise keeps the electrical grid functioning safely and efficiently.
Show Appreciation
On April 18th, thank a lineman. When storms knock out power, remember those who restore it. Their dangerous, essential work too often goes unnoticed—until the lights go out.
