The Exam Before Acceptance
The Acceptance Test Procedure is the test that a system must pass before the customer accepts it: Does the radar reach the specified range? Does the vehicle meet the contract requirements? The ATP defines test cases, test conditions and the criteria for passing.
Why the ATP Is Binding
Contract and payment are linked to the ATP: only when the acceptance test is passed does the system officially change hands. The procedure is agreed in advance and documented in detail – disputes later are settled on the basis of the ATP.

ATP appears in this meaning constantly in procurement and test documentation. Note that in biochemistry ATP is the well-known energy carrier adenosine triphosphate – in military paperwork, however, it concerns the acceptance test.
