The Module Against Submarines
The CV Anti-submarine Warfare Module is the equipment package of an aircraft carrier for the fight against submarines: sensors, helicopters and their crews, coordination equipment. CV-ASWM turns the carrier from a pure offensive platform into a node of submarine defense.
Why Carriers Defend Themselves
A carrier is a valuable target – and the submarine is its most dangerous opponent. The ASW module equips the carrier group for this threat: helicopters search, escort ships listen, and the module organizes the defense in the immediate vicinity of the carrier.
CV-ASWM appears in this meaning mainly in naval equipment documentation. Together with the CVS (the dedicated ASW carrier), it shows how central the fight against submarines is for naval planning.
