The Sight of the Cobra
Flip Augment Cobra Tow Sight is the sight of the Cobra attack helicopter: the optical system that supports the aiming of the weapons. FACTS is the eye of the attack – the sight that finds and tracks the target.
Why Sights Are Augmented
The attack helicopter fights from the cover: the sight must see more than the eye – magnified, stabilized, augmented. The sight delivers the image – and the weapons follow the line of sight.
FACTS appears in this meaning mainly in armament documentation. The abbreviation belongs to the targeting systems of the attack helicopters – where the sight decides.
